Knitting Progress and an Exciting KAL!!!

When you are sick and don't feel like even getting off the couch, what do you do? Knit of course!! So, I cast on a hat for LittleMan with the most awesome, softest yarn ever, Malabrigio. My awesome SP8, Marisol, gave this to me along with a hat pattern, and I've really had a blast with this yarn. It is yummy and awesome, and I'll definitely be buying more.
I also finished up a quick project I'd been working on this week.....

Have you ever saw anything cuter??? LittleMan loves his socks and showed them to anyone who would look. He was so proud!!
Details:
Pattern: Sensational Knitted Socks Slipped Stitch Rib pattern
Yarn: Knitpicks Memories Yukon
Needles: Size 3 Bates dpns
Time to complete: 5 days
I used the leftovers of the yarn from my dad's birthday socks and made LM a matching pair.

I also cast on my first ever lace project, the Rectangular Cover Shawl from Knitpicks. I'm trying out the Options needles on this one to see if I want to invest in the whole set. I'm using the Shimmer Happy Dance yarn and it is really soft and I'm loving this project so far. But, I think it will take a while.

Just wanted to update you all on the gas wars in my town. A new station, Circle K, opened up on Friday, which sent the prices plummeting again. I was able to buy gas yesterday for $2.29 a gallon! Can you believe it?

Finally, I have an idea for a KAL. If people seem interested, I'll get the page going and we can all get started. I'm thinking since I'm super excited that Grey's will be starting on September 21, and I have actually been thinking about what I will knit during the first episode (you know...something kinda easy so I don't mess it up) that maybe we should have a Grey's KAL!! We could all set a goal for a project or projects to complete during this season of Grey's and KAL every Thursday night! I'm thinking my goal might be 2 or 3 pairs of socks.....or maybe a Log Cabin Blanket. Not really sure.
Anyway, if you are interested, leave a comment and tell your friends. I'll start up a blog if there are some people interested.
**Edited*** Go here to the Grey's KAL blog***
Finally, a funny little comment for y'all. I was casting on the shawl yesterday and LittleMan says , "what are you making for me mommy?" I said that it was for me, and it was going to be a shawl. He says "oh, I like socks better anyway..." LOL!

Love the KAL idea. I'd definitely like to work the rectangular coverup shawl with you. How many hanks of 'shimmer' will I need? My new email is arwinklings@yahoo.com. I'm excited! (and glad to have a lace knitting buddy)

The dog is doing better today. I am doing better because I had coffee IN my milk and yes..she referred to yarn as string for the entire class. Sounds like you have lots of fun knitting going on!

YES! Rent 24 but beware...you probably won't feel like knitting and watching, too intense. Plus..with your interest in politics..you should watch!
