Rambling....

First off, please go see this guy and do this. Then go here and you're all done!! :) The only reason I chose to pass this on was that while I read about this on Christine's blog, I was knitting an LSU hat for my nephew. When I clicked on this guy's profile, he was an LSU grad, so I figured why not.

Monday night I attended a school board meeting. I wasn't "in charge" yet, just in the audience, as were the other 2 new members. Okay, I knew going into this that I was the youngest by well, about 25 years or so, but I really didn't expect to feel like an outsider right away. It wasn't anything that the other members did, said, etc, but as I looked at each of them, I felt very inadequately dressed and ill prepared for this job.

I know it was just the nerves talking. It's hard to feel fashionable around the other female member also. She's so darn cute and always dressed adorably with her cute Louis Vitton bag. I began to wonder what in the WORLD I was doing there.

I have a tendency to doubt myself profusely just before something is about to begin. Just after I began my sweater, I began to think there was no way I was doing it right and wonder what I was thinking. But, last night when I wove in the last end, I realized that I always panic before anything that I find to be important.

I did finish the sweater and it looks great. It was about 70 freakin' degrees outside when I woke up this morning, so it looks like I'll be waiting until Friday to wear it to work and then I'll take a pic and share. I am considering wearing it tonight to eat out with my father in law and his family. I can't wait to show it off!! I'm such a dork that I've even envisioned getting compliments on the thing from random strangers and proudly saying, "thank you, I made it myself" and then savoring their shocked faces. (Yep...I'm strange)

I began the LSU hat for my nephew and I think after that I'm calling it quits on the Christmas knitting and beginning some Socks that Rock socks! The colorway is Christmas Rock, so that counts as Christmas knitting right??

I finally finished my first sock on 2 circs and while it was okay, I'm thinking that I like DPNs better. But, we'll see. I have a sock to finish from my Hurricane Sock Pal and that's on 2 circs, so maybe I'll change my mind. By the way,
Hurricane Sock Party 2007 should begin soon. Get over and check out the blog!

And, finally,
Lime and Violet have their Holiday Gift Extravaganza ready. Go download it. It's great!!

Holidays Rock!!

I had a great holiday! I hope you all did as well. I got very little knitting done. I finished sleeve #1 on the sweater by Thanksgiving, but then I put it down and didn't pick it up again until last night. We did tree decorating, cookie baking, went to a parade, watched fireworks, and of course ate TONS of Thanksgiving food.
I did find time to knit 4 washcloths for Christmas gifts. I swear that the picture in no way does this yarn justice. It's shiny and bright and soft and wonderful. It's a yarn from Fiesta, but I don't remember what kind and the label is at home. But trust me, very cute!

Here is a progress pic on the sweater.....

Again, the color isn't the best with this camera. I borrowed one at work today to do pics and it isn't the best at showing true color.
I got most of my shopping done on Friday, except for the hubby who will probably pick out his own gifts. I can't wait for the Lime N Violet gift guide to come out so that he can get started buying for me! :)

Don't Come A Knockin'....

To celebrate my election victory, I decided to order myself a gift. Here is the gift pictured on top of my almost to the ribbing at the bottom sweater.

The yarn is Socks that Rock in the colors
X-Mas Rock

and Love In Idleness (which is even more gorgeous than the picture!

I can't wait to start knitting with this stuff. It is so yummy and soft and wonderful. I am in love. And I haven't even knitted the first stitch.

The sweater is coming along great. As I said before, I am almost to the ribbing on bottom and then I'll get the sleeves done. I really think I can have this done by Thanksgiving.

An Easy Post...

The sweater and scarf are going well. I think having the sweater by Thanksgiving is totally attainable!
Because I'm busy (and lazy), here's a quiz. Have fun!

Actual Knitting Content

Well, today, on the day of my 100th post, I have actual knitting content. Since the election is over, I have come home from work, put on PJs, cooked easy food, and knitted. I am so much more relaxed since this whole thing is over with. Thanks for all of the comments. I can't wait to get started. I will have a meeting next month as kind of an intro thing with a reception following and then January will be when I actually get down to business.
I have 4 projects on the needles right now and honestly, just thinking about it is making me a little crazy.
Project #1- A grey wool ease boring hat for my brother. Guess how much that's getting worked on. LOL
Project #2-My first sock on 2 circs. It went surprisingly fast and all I have left on Sock #1 are the toe decreases. I'm having second sock syndrome before Sock #1 is even finished. I don't care for the yarn all that much (Sockotta) and so I'm not really working on it. It will probably be picked back up after the next two projects are finished.
Project #3-Malabrigo scarf started on October 30th. I am still on ball #1 of 2 balls of yarn. I swear that like 10 repeats ago I thought that this ball was almost gone. I did 3 repeats at lunch and the never ending ball is still there!! Hopefully I'll start Ball #2 tonight. Not that a never ending ball of yarn is a bad thing, but I'm ready to be able to truely say that I'm over 1/2 way finished.

Project #4-V-Neck Raglan Sweater (pattern from Glampyre). This sweater is super easy. Here's how far I've gotten. I love working on this. I was soooo scared that I'd screw it up and not be able to finish, but that hasn't been the case at all. My goal is to have it finished by Thanksgiving. We'll see.

Not the best picture, the sweater is actually a little darker, but you get the point.

I have started by Christmas list of things to knit. Yes, I know it's November 13th, I have a scarf and a sweater to knit, and then I can start the gifts. I'm fully aware that I'll never complete this list, but I guess it's kind of like a Christmas Gift Knitted "Wish" list. It's pretty unattainable, but here it goes.

1. Knitted hat for my brother (which is project #1 and you can tell how unenthused I am about it)

2. Knitted hat for my husband (which will probaby end up being a birthday gift)

3. Cotton washcloths for Hooker, little cousin Taylor, and one sister in law

4. Cotton washrags for 2 sister in laws

5. Socks for the Hooker (such wishful thinking there unless they are footies)

6. Socks for LittleMan

7. Socks for my mom (again, will probably be a birthday gift instead)

8. Knitted LSU hat for my nephew (seriously, a must)

I'll be doing good if I get 2 of these line items done. :)

Keep Your Needles Crossed!!

Okay. This is it. Today's the day. Today is the run-off election. I am so nervous that my palms have been sweaty all day. I think I have a good chance, but it all depends on the voters showing up at the polls. I spent most of yesterday calling to remind people to vote, and I will spend my evening doing much of the same.
I should know by 8:30 and in some ways, I want to know, and in others, I just want to get in bed, pull the covers over my head, and tell someone to wake me up when it's over.
So, as a little PSA to all of you, there are probably elections going on where you live. Go vote. Make a difference. Young women could be the most powerful voting group out there, but many do not even vote and many are not registered. Get involved, have a voice.
And keep your needles crossed!

And the journey begins....

I started a really awesome leaf patterned scarf with the Malabrigo Monday. I love, love, love the pattern, but not with colors of the yarn. It was a little busy and distracted from the pattern of the scarf. So, yesterday I cast on again for a pattern more fitting this yarn. It's from wendyknits and was pointed out to me by the wonderful, awesome, great Marisol.
I got a few repeats done while getting my oil changed today, and here is the scarf so far.......

LittleMan had a blast Trick or Treating last night. He was a policeman and really racked up on candy. Too bad there are things that he just isn't quite old enough to eat yet, so I guess I'll have to take one for the team and eat them. Good thing I'm a Sugar Babies and Milk Duds addict! :)

One other sad piece of news, it appears that the ipod and I are not meant to be. I couldn't get the ipod video to work with itunes on my computer and so I downgraded to the nano. Unfortunately, it must be my computer, becuase it wouldn't work either, but worked on someone else's computer. So, it's on ebay. Dang it! But, I guess I can console myself with yarn.
