I think this is going to be a long post, sorry in advance, but I made a list of stuff I wanted to mention and it ended up being a notebook page long! :)
Sherri asked yesterday, "Will you be explaining how both heels came off both shoes at the same time?" Sherri-I wish I knew. I have no earthly idea. They each had three nails from the shoe into the heel and three staples from the heel into the shoe and just came off. It's turning a decent shade of pinkish/purple and a little more sore today, but other than that, it's going to be okay I think.
Which is great because Sunday is LittleMan's 3rd birthday and his party will be Saturday.
We rented a cabin at our local state park for the weekend and we're going to stay there Friday and Saturday night and have the party there on Saturday morning. I hope the weather forecast stays as pretty for Saturday as it is currently. We are having a Scooby Doo theme complete with Scooby Snack bone shaped cookies!

A couple of heads-ups for everyone. I hear that there are new STR colors out. They are gorgeous. Knitty Rocks especially. Also, Worldwide KIP Day is coming up. (June I think). Check out this site for more info.
As for the works in progress, the Trekking sock is coming along. I think I'm addicted to the tiny needles that I was once scared of. The result is too beautiful to argue with! I also worked on the Panda Cotton socks last night and ripped it all out. I was working on 2s and I think I want to use 1s and I also was making tons of mistakes with the pattern. I think I'll have to go with a simpler pattern. I can do the lacy pattern, but I have too much going on while I'm knitting and I need something easier to keep track of.

Thanks for all of the nice comments about getting involved with politics. I hesitate to mention things like that on my blog because I am very much not a pushy "vote for my guy" type person. Honestly, I just want everyone to vote no matter what candidate they pull the lever for. I just don't want to come across as a pushy political person. :)
Speaking of which, the man who served on the school board for my district retired, which is why I ran for office. He was super supportive of me and I found him to be a huge help. He passed away unexpectedly on Monday night, so please keep his family in your prayers. Also, my friend Kathy's mom got some terrible news. She went to the doctor last Wednesday with what she believed to be a gall bladder attack and found out she has Stage 4 liver and colon cancer. Please keep Kathy and her mom, Ellon, in your thoughts. They have a lot of difficult decisions ahead of them.
Okay, now that I've put politics, religion, and cancer all in one post, let's wrap this up!
I found a new podcast which I love, Pointy Sticks. I listened to the latest episode, so I will be doing some catch up with older episodes. What are some of your favorite podcasts? I currently listen to Lime N Violet, Stash and Burn (oh how I miss them!), It's a Purl Man (miss him too!), and Ready, Set, Knit. Do you have any other suggestions?
If you made it this far, sorry for all the rambling!! Hope you have a great day!
Melissa

Beautiful socks! You are quite the pro --was that 2 circular needles in that picture:)
So sorry to hear that you fell! Ouch.... I'm sending some heal fast karma your way:)
Happy Birthday to Little Man it sound like a great party is in the works!
Did you get your bag yet?
I have a hard time concentrating on lacy sock patterns too. Socks for me are my "mindless knitting".
I am glad you have converted to using 1s and 0s, takes longer but you will be much happier with the results! Very, very weird about your shoes...I do hope you get better soon.
Love your socks!
The socks look great! And the birthday party sounds fun...I love the scooby treat/cookie idea!
That sock is beautiful! I love the soft colors of it. :) For podcasts, I really like Sticks & String out of Australia.
Your socks looks so beautiful. Have a great birthday party. My son , who is now a man loved scooby do. It was his favorite.
Happy birthday to the little guy!!
