Weekly Product Review and 5 K Training!!

Since I don't have any recent pictures, here are a few older ones. A daylilly from my gorgeous daylilly beds (which have no flowers now) And since my brother is in the hospital needing some love I thought it appropriate to post pics of him and the Little Man fishing.

And now for Product Review Time!!!!!

  • I had read all about how awesome Sandwich Thins were and was pretty unconvinced honestly. But, Sam's had a 20 pk. of Orowheat Sandwich Thins (I hope I got the name right. The darn package is at home. 1 point each and 5 g of fiber. These things are really good. Soft and not all dry like some products I've tried. They are a little on the small side, but still plenty big enough. My brother loved them (before he got sick) and my mom (who isn't dieting) tried them and really liked them. I like them better than the Pita Pockets from last week! I have a confession. I love bread, seriously, seriously love bread. These are almost as good as just scarfing a slice of Holsum thin white bread. I will definitely be going back to Sam's (or sending my dad) for these on a regular basis.

  • Next we have something that definitely warrants a re-visit. It's nothing new, shocking, or revolutionary, but something pretty basic. I've found myself really loving some fruit lately. I bought strawberries, pineapple (fresh...yummy), and plums from Sam's and can't get enough. So, if you've been relying a little too heavily on processed foods and things of that nature, then give fruit a revisit. It's filling and full of water. I think I read once that it takes more calories to burn some fruits than are actually in the fruit itself. Don't forget to stock up on containers to go ahead and make lots of individual servings for grab and go!!

  • Finally, I have to tell you that I finally broke down and bought a digital scale. Boy oh boy do I love it. It takes the guess work out of portions of meat and fruits and veggies. It has been an necessity that I don't know how I was doing without. It has definitely opened my eyes even more to portion control.

I also started training to run a 5K in October. I am doing the Couch to 5K plan and I'm on week 1. Honestly, if I can run 1/2 of the 5K I will be impressed with myself, but my plan is to run the whole thing. We'll see.

And now, for before and after. I don't really have a good "before" shot. I am usually the one behind the camera and since I am the master of the camera card, if I don't like a shot of myself, delete is the magic eraser!! So, here is the best I can do for a before.....

Hey look....there's my brother again!! Well, maybe I do have one more.....

And here are the really really crappy after pictures. Yes, they are in the bathroom at work after a really busy day of sweating.

Anyway, I've blathered on enough for now. Hope you have a great day!!

Melissa

Look at how little the kids are!!! And you too! ;-)

I'm a little squicked out by your work bathroom wood paneling though. Is it like peeing in a ski lodge? Ha ha!

Thanks for your comments on my blog. I've been a bit busy with work and life and just got around to seeing them/approving them today.

Great work and good luck training for the 5K! That reminds me - I have to post at some point this week about my next walking challenge that I'm signing up for!
