Exhausted!!

I tried to make up for a week of less than stellar physical activity and I am exhausted. I got out of bed this morning and headed out for a 3.5 mile run with my Garmin. I would have been faster and the run would have been longer, but I had to stop quite a few times to try to cough up less than ladylike stuff from the back of my throat. YUCK!! Oh, well, the Garmin is wonderful and I really had fun downloading the info after my run. I still don't understand a good bit of it, but whatever.

Then, I started my Perfect Pushups program. I did 2/3 of it and it burned in a good way. I think those things are awesome!! I also started on Jillian's Wii game (I am NUTS) and it was great. I did the abs circuit and didn't totally finish because I was quite sure I was about to vomit. I really felt the exercises and it isn't for the faint of heart. (big Shocker!) More in depth review to come as I get more into it.

I took the kids to an eating establishment with a playground today (not healthy food, but they definitely burned off all the bad playing!) which gave me time to read the paper and work on my 2010 goals.

I did not have any resolutions or goals last year. In fact, I had no goals when I started Weight Watchers, not really. I think that contributed to the success. In the past, my goals/resolutions were way too pigeon-holed. "I will lose 20 pounds", "I will not eat sweets", etc. When I started to fall shy of the goal, I quit.

I made a list of goals sometime around July. These were the "Things I wanted to do before 30". There were no tattoos, piercings, drinks (okay, well maybe a few), or strange men, but just 5 or 6 very attainable and very non-specific goals. As I looked through them today at lunch (I keep all of these lists in my planner so I can look at them often) I realized that I could check off every single one, and 30 won't be here for 3 more months. I might work on some short term pre-30 goals this week.

So, I worked on attainable goals that I WANTED to see happen in 2010. I took a cue from Amanda and divided my goals into categories. I have physical goals, mental goals, and professional goals. I also made a list of things that I am excited about in 2010.

One of the mental goals is to start reading again. I haven't had the time or energy in the last couple of years, but I'm ready again. Previously, Shopaholic books and things of that nature were my favorite. I dislike history and things that make me think too much (I do enough of that at work). So, I'm looking to you guys for suggestions. Also, is there a Netflix of books out there?

I can't wait to share the list with you and reflect on last year. Also, if you are thinking that Tall Mom's 1000 miles sounds awesome but is a little much and want to do the 500 miles, let me know so I can start working on a list with Robin. Details to come in the next couple of days on that one.

I have one heck of a goal I will be doing...or not doing. I will be giving it my all however.
I love reading, but I read complete crap lol.
I read enough history with homeschool. When I have downtime it's lurid romance novels.
I get to read maybe one a month.
Good luck on getting your goals down and attaining them. Here's to 2010.

Bookswim.com. Netflix of books. I don't use it...b/c I'm too cheap and have a couple of decent libraries about! I like the idea of categorizing the goals...makes 'em a bit more attainable and less daunting!

How awesome for reaching all of your goals with three months to spare!! I look forward to hearing more about the Jillian Wii game - since PETE SURPRISED ME WITH A WII FOR CHRISTMAS EVEN THOUGH I WAS SURE I WASN'T GETTING ONE!!!! Yes, I'm a bit excited. He also got Wii Fit Plus, which I am loving. I have the sore muscles to prove it. :)

As for books - I did like Friday Night Knitting Club, if you haven't read that one yet. I got the sequel, Knit Two, for Christmas also. I'm two chapters in and liking it also. :)

"Things to do before 30" is a great idea....I'm running out of time though. Let us know how the Jillian Wii game turns out...I've been thinking about purchasing that one or the Biggest Loser one.

A netflix for books...let me know what you find out about that. I definitely need to start reading again and I am with you on that whole learning and reading thing. I'm the same way with watching movies. I learn enough when I go to school, so I want to read and watch movies to escape. lol.

Good luck with your goals.
