Sad :(

In the last week, so much has happened around here. My department of 4 has dwindled to 2. That wouldn't be horrible news except for the fact that it will become a department of 2 from now on. This means that where I used to have on-call duty for one week of nights and one weekend per month, now I have to do that every other week.

This means the following:
  • (a) I have to get up and go to work (or hopefully just call and check in...I'm crossing my fingers for this one) every other freaking weekend
  • (b) There is little to no chance that I will get in the long runs I had planned on the weekends.
  • (c) I will be working the weekend of the Tyler Half and the Monroe Half I had been planning
  • (d) I will not be running the first or second half marathon I had been planning.
  • (e) I am depressed and have been trying my best not to cry, but pomegranate margaritas help.

In addition to all of this madness, LittleMan started school last week. First grade is going great and homework is so fantastic.

I'll be trying to do better with the blogging as I get adjusted to my new work duties. I hope you are all having a good week!!

Melissa

That really stinks that you have to miss your races! Can you trade weekends w/ the other half of the 2-person staff?

I just found you via Lisa Runs, Wait What and smiled to see we have similar occupations (I'm a consultant though). I'm in the Pacific NW and we are known to have a few paper mills up here, too!

Hope your schedule works out.

I'm sorry...that just sucks. Hopefully something can be worked out - I've had similar issues with working on Saturdays and not being able to do races. I feel for you, Melissa.

Changes have a way of always getting in our way, don't they?!

I hope you can get adjusted soon and still get a few runs in. They will help keep the stress down.

Good Luck!
Glad little one is enjoying first grade.

Awwww man that stinks! I'm sure you've already thought of it, but is there anyway to trade weekends? Really hope something works out for you!

That sucks! Hopefully like you said, you will be able to just call in, and that should help. Hopefully you can find some races on your off weeks to make up for the ones you will be missing!

I'm sorry that bites. I've had my fair share of overtime in the past few years. I know how much it bites.

Sorry to hear about your job. I think we are going to have some big changes with our department at school this year...

That totally sucks! Although, you should keep a little faith that when they take half the number of people away from a department, things usually end badly, and they bring back the positions.

Hang in there, and think of it as an opporunity to work on cross training?

I coped with my last year of work with First Call (must be First Call brand mixer!!) mango margaritas. I highly recommend them if you need to mix it up!

I'm sorry to hear about your job. :( Maybe in a couple weeks things will be adjusted to you can get back to your long runs. Plus, margaritas can't be all that bad.. ?

I gave you a little award on my blog. :)
