However, I have had some inspiration outside of my door (literally) a couple of nights a week lately. Our local school's cross country team doesn't have anywhere formal to practice and safety had become an issue on the main roads and in the form of parking, so they park at my house twice a week and do either hills and speedwork or long runs all from my driveway. :) So, I have been inspired to get back at it (and even do speedwork! gasp!)
However, I'm not the only one inspired. My 6 year old son waits for them to come so he can go outside and watch. This week they invited him to do speedwork with them and he wants to next week! :) Also, they are having their local cross country meet next weekend and I volunteered to help and they told me there would be a one mile race for the kiddos and invited LittleMan to race. So, two nights ago, we began to "practice".
This morning, he asked could we please do a two mile run tonight to practice. I am beyond excited. We had a blast on our one mile the other night and I can't wait for this two mile run tonight. :)
So, next Saturday, instead of the Race for the Cure 5K I had planned (don't worry, I still sent the registration money, so I made my donation), I am going to go watch LM race! :) Wish him luck!

thats so cool. your son is going to be great!
Way to roll with the punches and make something good happen! Love the example you are giving your son - the race will be fun to watch, I'm sure!
Excellent! You've inspired you son!
Sounds like some wonderful inspiriation for you and your son! What a wonderful bonding experience!
That's too cute. that's sorta where my lil' 4.5 yr olds are with running.
and cool that you're volunteering for the x country team's race next wknd!
What a great way to get the kiddo involved in running. The college cross country coach lives in the neighborhood we just moved out of. Even though he is retired the cross country team still uses the neighborhood since it has a mile loop and it is all dirt. Plus the run from the college is a 3 mile warm up for them. When we first went to see the house we bought I thought a race was going on with all of the kids running.
Awww that's great - good luck to Little Man!!
good luck little man. and it's nice that you let them use your property.
That's very sweet that your son wants to run like his mom. Good luck to him in his race!
Yay for your awesome inspiration!!! You're such a great mom :).
Aww how fun! You're going to be one very proud mama watching your son race his heart out.
