Tell it Like it is Tuesday

Well, I'm all settled into my new office and finally adjusting to my new duties and feel like I can (no idea what's up with the underline!)breathe somewhat now. I appreciate the patience of the blog world while I have slacked totally at blogging. :)

I have also been busy organizing our annual ACS 5K (Oct 16th), training LittleMan for running, and helping with our school's Fall Festival so things have been hectic.

So, settle in. This is going to be a long one!!

First of all, here's a quick idea for those of you who opt for health(ier) eating who have family who would rather not.

Two sauces, two type of noodles.....

Grilled and not so grilled chicken....

Cheesy french bread and toasted Sandwich Thins (not pictured)

There you have a quick meal and you really didn't cook two separate meals (not really!). Funny but true, the hubby who insists on the white noodles (his chicken spagetti the other night had wheat...don't tell!) and alfredo, wanted the grilled chicken. The kids that the nuggets are for like the wheat noodles.

The one mile cross country race went great. For his first race, a time of 10:30 was pretty good (that's an estimate...they didn't clock them) The kid who one was around 8:40. He was 7. LM is 6. WOW

Here is a pic from where we helped out with the high school racers.

Here is LM with his award!
Now for the product reviews. I took out my Nathan Handheld for the first time today at lunch. LOVE IT!!! It fits great on my hand and the spout doesn't leak. It's easy to pop open with your teeth (surely I'm not the only one...right?) and cute! I wasn't going to get pink (honest!), but it was $3 cheaper on Amazon than the other colors so what was a girl to do?

I also finally purchased a Running Skirt and I am hooked with a capital H. Love it. It fits great, feels like wearing nothing, and it's cute. I wore it Saturday and got a compliment from another mom who I think was going to go order one! I got the black with white polka dots. I can't wait for the fall collection because I am definitely ordering one! The best thing is that it's cute enough to wear shopping after a race!
Oh! One more thing. I have another skirt from Academy that I wore today and the wind was blowing. Totally showed my butt to a couple of cops waiting for speeders on the side of the road. The Running Skirt? Stays. In. Place. Enough said. Thank God they didn't write me a ticket for indecent exposure!
And finally, I wanted to comment again on the POM Wonderful pomegranite juice that was sent to me by POM. I have been mixing it in Green Monsters and yes, still margaritas and I think I'm hooked!!
I want to also leave you with a Buyer Beware. I bought some Dannon Greek yogurt with fruit on the bottom. This stuff tastes AMAZING. I had previously been buying Weight Watchers strawberry cheesecake. (I know that I should go with plain, but me eating it at all is a big step). Anyway, I looked at the nutritional info yesterday and the Dannon has 16 g of sugar versus the WW having 12 grams. I was shocked. I thought Greek = better. So, just FYI. Will I keep eating it. Probably until they are gone, but I might venture to the plain Greek. Maybe.....

Found some Inspiration!!

Well, as many of you know, I had to cancel my half marathon and I was pretty upset about that. So, like a spoiled rotten kid (of which I have two, so I am an expert) I kind of sulked and then slacked. When I got energized to hit the running hard again, life got in the way and I sulked and pouted again.

However, I have had some inspiration outside of my door (literally) a couple of nights a week lately. Our local school's cross country team doesn't have anywhere formal to practice and safety had become an issue on the main roads and in the form of parking, so they park at my house twice a week and do either hills and speedwork or long runs all from my driveway. :) So, I have been inspired to get back at it (and even do speedwork! gasp!)

However, I'm not the only one inspired. My 6 year old son waits for them to come so he can go outside and watch. This week they invited him to do speedwork with them and he wants to next week! :) Also, they are having their local cross country meet next weekend and I volunteered to help and they told me there would be a one mile race for the kiddos and invited LittleMan to race. So, two nights ago, we began to "practice".

This morning, he asked could we please do a two mile run tonight to practice. I am beyond excited. We had a blast on our one mile the other night and I can't wait for this two mile run tonight. :)

So, next Saturday, instead of the Race for the Cure 5K I had planned (don't worry, I still sent the registration money, so I made my donation), I am going to go watch LM race! :) Wish him luck!

I'm still here

Life has been....well, life lately and I just have not had the time or energy for this blog. I know that's terrible! School started a few weeks ago and it has been a big adjustment getting used to homework and all the stuff that goes into the whole "back to school" thing.

I have also been organizing the local 5K American Cancer Society run/walk that will occur in October. In addition, the Relay for Life is that same night and I have gotten roped into being invoved in that as well.

Add to that new, more demanding duties at work, volunteering to help be a Cub Scouts leader, School Board stuff, and most recently, the illness and death today of a really good friend and you have my life lately.

I really think things will get better, but I know that I am going to have to learn the fine art of saying "no". Also, I have about three weeks of vacation to burn between now and January 1, so that can't do anything but help. :)

Running has been non-existent the last week, but I have my bag packed and all ready for tomorrow. I have to get my butt in excellent 5K shape and I have 4 weeks to do it. I can't be struggling to finish a 5K if I am organizing it! :)

I have really appreciated the awards recently. I have got to get around to your blogs and thank each of you properly. I love you all!!

I hope to be back to a more regular blogging schedule soon. Melissa
